After several years of development, the BIID worked with the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) to publish two new client contracts, both of which of which are specifically designed for interior design projects.
Launched in October 2020, the RIBA/BIID Professional Services Contract: Interior Design Services is available in two versions:
- ‘Concise’ for small commercial projects
- ‘Domestic’ for residential projects for ‘consumer’ clients.

In this 1-hour webinar, panellists Colin Jones, Susie Rumbold and Steven Cross will be discussing the RIBA/BIID Domestic Professional Services Contract: Interior Design Services. Their conversation will cover:

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS

Colin Jones is Partner of HCR Hewitsons and a solicitor specialising in construction and procurement law. He is long-time adviser to BIID and its members and as well as overseeing our Legal Helpline he has advised on the BIID contracts of appointment, including working in the past as part of a BIID team in the drafting of the BIID Concise Agreement for Interior Design Services contract published by RIBA Publishing.

Susie Rumbold is the Founder and Creative Director of Tessuto, and a Past President of the British Institute of Interior Design. With over 30 years spent in the interior design industry, Susie has amassed a wealth of knowledge and expertise. She assisted in the development of the BIID Interior Design Professional Services contracts in partnership with the RIBA and is the author of the BIID Interior Design Project Book.

Steven Cross is Director of Commercial Development at the RIBA. Steven oversees the development of the suite of RIBA Professional Services and Building Contracts, including the partnership with the BIID, and the RIBA/BIID contract for interior design services. Steven is also responsible for the development of RIBA Contracts Digital – the online tool that allows users to create, prepare and issue a contract for their clients and projects.
