The BIID CPD Providers Showcase is a unique opportunity for interior design professionals to stay up-to-date and to refresh their industry knowledge in a day of BIID-accredited CPD seminars on a vast range of different subjects. 

Following on from the success of our inaugural showcase in March 2015, we head into our 4th instalment of this fantastic event, an absolute must in our annual CPD calendar. The CPD Providers Showcase is a free, exclusive benefit of membership for all BIID Registered Interior Designers and Associates that provides not only a day of valuable CPD, but also a chance to network, meet other designers and discuss with BIID Industry Partners.

This free event will take place just before the deadline for the BIID's annual CPD hours total, granting designers 7 CPD hours of ‘structured’ learning.

Domus Tiles

'Tile Design: History, Innovation & Trends'This CPD focuses on innovation in tile design and porcelain production, demonstrating how technology drives trends and how trends drive technology. The session starts by looking at the history of tiles, with the earliest known use of ceramic tiles in 4000BC. More recent 20th century history is also covered, looking at the rapid innovation in the manufacturing of porcelain over the last 40 years and its influence on tile design.

‘Working with Technology’
This CPD is designed to educate and inform designers about the level of technology found within the modern home. It describes the design parameters, space requirements and technology solutions typically available and explains the drivers behind technology change. Understand what's important to your client and how best to work with a technology consultant to benefit your design. The course also gives an update on the very latest technology trends.

‘The Designer’s Role in Custom Furniture’
In this CPD you will learn the key considerations designers should be aware of when customising a piece of furniture for a client through five case studies of one cabinet and its transformations. How to develop a bespoke design from a client’s brief, how to modify a design, understand the issues to be aware of when commissioning a bespoke or modified design and tips to help you in this process.

‘Designing Professional Secondary Glazing Solutions for Enhancing Thermal Performance, Acoustics and Security’
This CPD covers a range of topics to help effectively specify secondary glazing to enhance the environment in listed and heritage buildings. The learning objectives are: to give an overview of how secondary glazing can be used to provide thermal enhancements, noise reductions and added security, examples of the types of buildings and ways in which it can be used, to meet both aesthetic and functional needs, to highlight the performance capabilities and applicable standards for secondary glazing and to understand the design features of secondary glazing ranges and their performance.

‘Shaping the Bathroom Space of the Future’
This seminar will cover the following: Identify factors affecting both product development and general bathroom design; highlight new technologies and innovation in the bathroom environment; establish the importance of design details from the conspicuous to the overlooked; and promote thought and discussion on the future of bathroom spaces to come.

‘Flawless Finishes with Lighting’
This CPD will aid interior designers in understanding of the various lighting positioning in relation to uplights, downlights and beam angles & positioning from walls. It will also detail finishing techniques, the materials available, and the advantages and disadvantages of finishes such as powder coating, anodising and plating.

Spiral Cellars

‘Go Underground and Give Wine a Home of its Own’
This CPD is designed to give the audience a thorough understanding of the need for wine storage, how to store wine correctly and the benefits of underground wine storage, with technical background on the components and processes involved in constructing a prefabricated natural wine cellar. The audience will come away from this seminar with the knowledge to advise their residential and hospitality clients on how best to store their wine collection.

Learn more about the bulthaup company history and philosophy, premium kitchen production technologies and materials and planning expertise of kitchen living spaces via exploration of premium kitchen production technologies and materials involved (veneer / solid wood, laminate, lacquer, aluminium, laser edge welding, monobloc manufacturing) and insight into the individual planning expertise of a kitchen living spaces.
