CPD At The BIID: A Sneak Peek at 2025 and Top Tips For Success
Join Learning and Events Manager Hayley McLennan for a look back over the past year and sneak peek at the year ahead.
As the year winds down and a new one approaches, it’s the perfect time to reflect on the fantastic CPD opportunities the BIID offered throughout 2024 and look ahead to 2025. Whatever stage you are at in your interior design career, staying committed to continuous professional development (CPD) ensures your skills remain sharp and your creativity boundless.
2024: A Year to Celebrate CPD Excellence
In 2024, the BIID delivered a stellar lineup of CPD events designed to inspire, educate, and elevate. BIID Members got to level up their social media skills with interactive workshops, bust through the legal jargon of the Building Safety Act and CDM Regulations via handy webinars, and explore Smartphone Photography and Confident Sketching at in-person classes, to name a few. In September, members got together to share their knowledge at the brand new for 2024 Inside Knowledge event. This year’s offerings reinforced why CPD is a cornerstone of professional growth.
Looking Ahead to 2025
While 2024 has set a high bar, we’re thrilled to share a sneak peek at what’s coming in 2025.We’ve already added a colour scheming webinar, styling for photography sessions, and our popular Leadership and Management Masterclass to name just a couple. Plus, we’re always adding to our online CPD Providers Directory that you can access on demand. From in-person events to expanded online learning, we’re committed to providing you with resources that keep you ahead in a rapidly changing world.
Top Tips from Our Learning and Events Manager
The BIID Learning and Events Manager Hayley McLennan works with our CPD Committee to support our members in their professional learning. We asked Hayley for her top 3 pieces of advice on being successful in completing CPD in 2025.
1.CPD: More Than just the BIID
While the BIID offers outstanding CPD opportunities, it’s important to remember that CPD can come from a variety of sources. Industry events, trade shows, design podcasts, and academic articles, can all contribute to your professional development. Be curious and engaged with the wider industry's offerings—you never know where inspiration might strike or how a fresh perspective could elevate your practice.
2. Renew Early for Added Perks
To make 2025 even more exciting, we’re offering a special incentive: Renew your BIID membership on or before 1st April 2025, and you’ll receive one free CPD event as part of your membership benefits (conditions apply). Don’t miss this opportunity to kickstart the year with complimentary access to a CPD session of your choice.
3. Your CPD Tracker: A Key to Success
As the year wraps up, it’s a great time to ensure your CPD Tracker is up to date. BIID Registered Interior Designers are required to complete 20 hours of CPD annually, and the tracker makes it simple to monitor your progress. This essential tool is not just for Registered Interior Designers—it’s also available for Associates, Provisional Associates, and employees of BIID Registered Design Practices, ensuring everyone can stay organised and compliant.
A Final Note of Encouragement from Hayley
CPD is more than a requirement—it’s a chance to rekindle your passion for design, discover new career opportunities, and lead with confidence in a dynamic industry. At the BIID, we’re here to support your journey, providing you with the tools, resources, and inspiration to make every CPD hour count.
Let’s look forward to another year of growth and innovation. Renew early, track your progress, and embrace all the learning opportunities 2025 has in store!
