Amber Butchart Announced as Host for BIID Interior Design Awards
The unmissable event will celebrate the 28 shortlisted projects, across 7 regional categories.
Amber Butchart will be the MC for the inaugural BIID Interior Design Awards ceremony, taking place on 5th October 2022 at the spectacular Drapers’ Hall, London.
A recognisable face from the BBC’s ‘The Great British Sewing Bee’ and ‘A Stitch in Time,’ Amber is well known within the design community as a curator, writer and broadcaster. As well as writing for The Guardian, Times Literary Supplement, Financial Times and BBC Culture, Amber is also a regular contributor to contemporary art magazine Frieze, writing on the politics of dress and design.
Amber is a former Research Fellow at the University of the Arts London and teaches cultural and historical studies at London College of Fashion. She is a regular public speaker and host, speaking at institutions from the Tate to the V&A and has programmed and hosted events for the Design Museum among many other iconic design names.
Her wealth and breadth of design knowledge, unique style and personality make Amber the perfect person to entertain guests and host the ceremony at the BIID’s celebration of UK interior design.
“We’re delighted that Amber will be part of the much-anticipated first BIID Interior Design Awards ceremony, to celebrate the very best of UK interior design.” explains BIID President Matthew Freeman. “We are looking forward to seeing Amber present our very worthy winners with their awards and help us recognise their great achievements.”
The exceptional shortlist demonstrates outstanding examples of interior design projects which have not only successfully met the design brief, but also shown creative design solutions and an array of technical skills. The final winners will be revealed at the ceremony on 5th October.
The BIID Interior Design Awards is proudly sponsored by Headline Sponsor Havwoods, Sustainability Sponsor Paragon Studio and supported by Alexanders, Control4, Decorex International, and Design Central.
