BIID President Daniel Hopwood to Speak at May Design Series and Art15
The British Institute of Interior Design (BIID) is a show partner for two of London’s most influential art and design events this month; May Design Series at London ExCeL, 17 – 19 May and London’s global art fair Art15, 21-23 May at Olympia. President of the BIID, Daniel Hopwood, will take part in speaking engagements at both events.
At May Design Series, Daniel Hopwood will be participating in the first of the three-day conference and seminar programme, taking place on Sunday 17th May at 11:30am. Entitled ‘New directions in materials, colour and texture’, the seminar will explore the latest design trends in an engaging and informative presentation. Attendees will discover emerging trends, applications and the latest innovations in interior design. In collaboration with Marianne Shillingford, Creative Director, Dulux and Jim Biddulph, Projects and Materials Manager, Material Lab, the seminar will feature a dynamic panel of experts from the design, materials and colour industries.
The conference is part of a brand new feature for the 2015 May Design Series. The free-to-attend Conference & Seminar programme has been carefully curated and features an exciting line-up. Industry leaders will debate real issues impacting the business of design, offer practical advice on how to overcome the challenges present and offer insider knowledge on the latest styles and concepts.
Bringing together five distinct districts: Furniture, Lighting, DX, KBB and Décor, into one commercially focused event, the May Design Series is one of the leading events in the interior design calendar. With over 200 exclusive exhibitors, it offers industry leading knowledge with the best of British and international design, retail, interior architectural and property led features.
At Art15, Daniel Hopwood will be speaking on 22nd of May, as part of a panel discussion entitled ‘Art, Design, Architecture and Fashion’. In association with Wallpaper* Magazine this talk explores how the industries of art, design and fashion influence and converge with one another, with a direct influence on contemporary art practice.
Joining Daniel on the panel are Sebastien Montabonel (Art Advisor and Founder of Alaska Editions photography publishers), Janet Laurence (artist) and Osman Yousefzada (fashion designer). The panel will be moderated by David Hills (architect).
At Art15, 150 of the world’s most exciting galleries from 40 countries will showcase the masters of the modern era through to leading international artists from the contemporary scene. From Amman to Amsterdam, New York to New Delhi and Sao Paulo to Seoul, the fair will present art from across the globe.
More countries are represented at Art15 than at any other major international art fair, with over half of the galleries exhibiting at the fair having spaces outside of Europe. Alongside tightly curated gallery sections, a public programme of talks and panel discussions, expert-led tours, artist installations and projects and specially curated initiatives will run parallel to the fair.
BIID President Daniel Hopwood comments;
“The BIID is pleased to be supporting these influential events in the London design calendar this month. I’m very much looking forward to taking part in some inspiring and informative discussions at both May Design Series and Art 15.”
