RIBA Domestic Professional Services Contract: Interior Design Services

Supported by the HomeOwners Alliance, RIBA has made some changes to the suite of RIBA Domestic Professional Services Contracts, including the Interior Design Services Contract. These updates clarify and simplify some of the standard clauses, making them easier to understand.

The 2026 amendments include:

  • Clearer guidance on the net contribution clause and on clients putting contracts in place with the other consultants and contractors engaged in the project to ensure appropriate recovery for loss is provided for
  • Tighter controls on when additional fees can be charged
  • A reduction in the late payment interest rate to 5%
  • And more...

Published in conjunction with the British Institute of Interior Design, the contract is suitable where an interior designer undertakes a commission for design services on domestic projects for a consumer client.
