The Northern Design Awards: Enter by 16th of September

As the deadline of 16th September fast approaches, the organisers of the Northern Design Awards have thrown down the gauntlet to BIID members to enter these prestigious awards.

In October, the Northern Design Awards will mark the achievements of the North’s finest designers, architects and retailers at a glittering ceremony at the Titanic Hotel in Liverpool.

This is the first time the awards, which have previously been held at venues including the Chester Grosvenor Hotel, Manchester’s Lowry Hotel and Monastery and Buxton’s stunning Devonshire Dome, have come to Liverpool and the organisers are urging BIID members to get involved and showcase the calibre of design and architecture within the North West.

Director of Events, Shelley Bond, commented: “The Northern Design Awards are almost 15 years old and are amongst the most established awards in the design calendar. We’re very excited to be bringing the awards to Liverpool, a city which is renowned for its architecture and which has a rich and diverse design scene, this year. We’d urge BIID members with impressive design or architecture credentials who haven’t already entered to visit our website and complete their entries before 16th September.”

Event Coordinator, Francesca Humphries, added: “It’s always a pleasure working with the BIID team and our judges are really excited about seeing what the North West’s design scene has to offer this year! We know how busy your members are, but winning a Northern Design Award has many benefits. You’ll be judged by the best in the business, you’ll be inducted into the Northern Design Awards Hall of Fame and will benefit from all the associated publicity.”

The judging for the Northern Design Awards has historically been overseen by a respected panel of judges, all of whom are experts in their fields. Last year’s panel features Linda Barker, George Clarke of BBC’s ‘Restoration Man’ and ‘Amazing Spaces’, Wayne Hemingway, Nick Munro and Jan Constantine.

They were joined on the judging panel by HRH Princess Katarina and internationally renowned designer, George Bond, plus the influential Alison Vance and Noel Farrer.

This year, George Clarke will be joining the judging panel on stage to present the lucky winners with their awards. He’ll join the host for the evening, Red or Dead founder, Wayne Hemingway.

The awards ceremony will take place at The Titanic Hotel at Liverpool’s Stanley Dock on Friday 30th October.
