Opportunity to design a new installation for the BIID conference
The BIID is looking for a designer to create a brand-new concept for its 2020 Inside Knowledge conference - the UK’s only conference for and by professional interior designers.
What will the interior designer do?
The designer will be tasked with designing a fluid and cohesive installation - the 'Sponsor Space' - which will showcase the products and services of our conference sponsors whilst still allowing each individual sponsor’s branded product or service to be clearly read. This year the conference is moving to a brand new venue - the iconic Barbican Centre, with access to the Barbican Conservatory – the second biggest conservatory in London. The designer may choose to use the rich and unique history of the Barbican as a starting point for their installation design, however, we are also open to other ideas.
We are looking for an interior designer who can demonstrate:
- an interest in and/or experience of designing exhibitions, displays or installations
- an understanding of the commercial aspects of exhibition sponsorships (what sponsors are looking for)
- a willingness to think ‘outside of the box’ regarding how to display products (and services)
- ability to liaise with several stakeholders; experience of creative collaborations with suppliers
The successful candidate will:
- Be a BIID Registered Interior Designer or Associate member.
- Act as a project manager and oversee the project from start to completion, with the support of members from the BIID Council, including the President. Key decisions throughout the design process will be made in collaboration with the BIID working group for this project.
- The designer will be fully credited in any promotion of the Sponsor Space leading up to, and after, the conference.
- The project will be highlighted on the BIID’s website and social media channels, with full credit to the designer.
This is a great opportunity for someone early in their design career, or someone looking to move in to the field of exhibition/installation and showroom design.
If you are interested in applying for this opportunity, please email info@biid.org.uk for further details, including the brief and project fee.
The deadline for applications is 12.00pm on Friday 13th March 2020.
