For those unfamiliar with Williams & Yates, what do you do?

Williams & Yates provides specialist FF&E logistics, Bespoke removals, storage and interior logistics for exceptional homes worldwide. We have inventory management and installation services for interior designers, developers, private clients and luxury residential projects worldwide. 

We act as a central hub for a project's entire FF&E collection, receiving goods from suppliers across the globe and bringing them together within our secure storage facilities.

Every item that arrives is carefully inspected, photographed and inventoried before being uploaded to our digital inventory portal. This gives designers complete visibility of their collection, allowing them to monitor deliveries, review item imagery and track inventory status throughout the project lifecycle.

Once procurement is complete, we coordinate the delivery, installation and placement of those items, whether the project is in London, Los Angeles, the South of France, Dubai or anywhere else in the world.

Our goal is simple: to remove complexity from project delivery and allow designers to focus on creating remarkable interiors.

Why are storage and inventory management becoming increasingly important for interior designers?

Modern interior design projects are more complex than ever before.

Designers are sourcing furniture, lighting, artwork, accessories and bespoke pieces from an increasingly global network of suppliers. Items often arrive over many months, before a property is ready for installation.

Without a structured system for receiving, storing and managing those goods, it can be difficult to maintain visibility and control.

Our secure storage facilities allow designers to consolidate their entire FF&E collection in one place while maintaining complete oversight through our digital inventory portal. Every item is professionally managed from the moment it arrives, creating a clear and accurate record of the project's inventory.

This approach gives design teams confidence that every piece is accounted for, protected and installation-ready when the time comes to bring a scheme together.

How is technology changing the way FF&E projects are delivered?

Technology has transformed expectations across every stage of project delivery.

Designers increasingly want immediate access to information, whether they're reviewing procurement schedules, tracking deliveries or preparing for installation.

Our digital inventory portal was developed with this in mind. Every item that enters our facilities is photographed, catalogued and recorded, creating a live digital inventory that can be accessed from anywhere in the world.

Rather than relying on spreadsheets or manual updates, designers can view their collection in real time, monitor incoming deliveries and make informed decisions throughout the procurement process.

For international projects in particular, this level of visibility provides reassurance and enables smoother communication between designers, suppliers, project managers and clients. 

Sustainability is a key principle at our awards, all entrants are expected to demonstrate how they've work sustainably. How does Williams & Yates contribute to more sustainable project delivery?

Sustainability is becoming an increasingly important consideration throughout the design and construction process, and logistics has a significant role to play.

Careful planning, inventory management and consolidation can help reduce unnecessary transportation, minimise damage and prevent costly duplication of orders. By bringing goods together within a managed storage environment, we can coordinate deliveries more efficiently and support better installation planning. This helps reduce waste, improve operational efficiency and create a more streamlined project journey.

Sustainability is also reflected in the materials and processes we use every day. We have completely phased out plastic Furniguard wrap in favour of six-ply paper export wrap and no longer use bubble wrap, opting instead for recyclable paper and cardboard packaging. We are also exploring further improvements, including the introduction of paper-based packing tape and initiatives to extend the reuse of packaging materials. In addition, we work with FSC-certified suppliers to ensure our packaging materials come from responsibly managed sources.

Alongside reducing waste, we are investing in lower-emission transport. In 2025, we introduced an electric survey vehicle, which is now used for property surveys and site visits, helping to reduce our carbon footprint while maintaining a responsive service for clients. We continue to invest in a modern, efficient fleet and have further electric vehicles planned as technology continues to evolve.

Our commitment to sustainability extends to our facilities as well. Our main warehouse is equipped with solar panels that generate a proportion of our electricity onsite, while energy-efficient LED lighting and ongoing monitoring of energy consumption help reduce our environmental impact across our operations.

Technology also contributes to sustainability. Greater visibility of inventory enables designers and clients to make more informed decisions, improving project management and reducing avoidable inefficiencies.

As proud sponsors of this year's Sustainability Award, we are particularly pleased that sustainability will also be reflected in our support of the event itself. As the awards logistics partner, Williams & Yates will be assisting with the transportation of awards materials and event requirements, and we hope to utilise our electric vehicle as part of those arrangements.

What trends are you seeing across the luxury residential interior design sector?

One of the biggest trends is the growing demand for transparency throughout the project lifecycle.

Designers and clients want greater visibility of their FF&E collections, more accurate reporting and access to real-time information. As projects become increasingly international, managing procurement and logistics effectively has become a critical part of successful project delivery.
We're also seeing a continued demand for fully integrated services. Rather than working with multiple providers, many design studios prefer a trusted partner who can manage receiving, storage, inventory reporting, transportation and installation through a single point of contact.
This creates a more seamless experience and allows design teams to focus their time and energy where it matters most: delivering outstanding interiors.

What are you most looking forward to about this year's BIID Awards?
